Come as a guest, leave as a friend.
Welcome & About Us
Holy Trinity Essex is one household of Christ, worshiping, praying, giving, and building the dominion of God in the tradition of The Episcopal Church.
Our corner of the ever-expanding mission field that Christ has shared is located in Essex, Maryland. We glorify God in the joy of the Presence we experience, and we share this experience with the generosity God has also shown to us. We are deeply aware of the many gifts and graces that reside in the unified, holy heart that beats at the center of this parish family. We are confident that it is his Holy Heart we feel within us, and so through our many ministries and outreach programs we hope to show that Heart always, and share it without reserve!
Our website is always under construction, as are our spirits and the life we share with each other and with the world! Our life in ministry is evolving, because we are all called to Christian maturity. We celebrate that we are living, moving, and changing into the likeness of Christ– something that is our never-ending and imperfect journey.
When you visit, we will let you know how much we treasure your presence. But, we do more than welcome you to worship or events. We invite you to join us in the journey that is the sustaining movement of a pilgrim people, seeking to DO the Church and BE the Church, more than simply meet in a building called, “a church.” What you may notice about us immediately is that we are motivated to serve Christ in our neighbors, whether through the myriad of outreach programs available through our Stewardship program, our many ministries, or our annual missions.
Historically, we have been known as, “The Beloved Neighbor of Essex,” and we are– as are you! Every person is beloved of God, beyond any perceptible limitation or the boundaries the world seeks to impose upon us. On a daily basis, Holy Trinity Essex strives to live out and give out of love to for the community.
As you explore this webpage, we hope will be guided easily to the Service Schedule, Happenings, Mission Statement, Core Values, How to Find Us, and connecting through Pastoral Care, Christian Formation & Spirituality, and Fellowship/Community. We hope your heart will be touched and guided to serve or be served by what is most dear to Holy Trinity Essex: our many missions, ministries, and outreach, particularly through our Children’s & Family initiatives, including Holy Trinity Program, Holy Trinity Essex Living Compass in the Teresa Schutte-Register Center, and more.
No virtual page can convey or express the lived experience of the Body of Christ. God sent the Incarnate One, Jesus, in real flesh. Whatever you encounter at this site, we hope that you will come and experience Jesus, in the REAL. We pray this welcome is enough to get you started and ready to—
Come be with us. Come be as you are. Come be Christ’s own.
COME. BE. LOVED.
Grace upon grace,
The Faith Community of Holy Trinity Essex Episcopal Church, Baltimore, Maryland
Mother Lisa brings caring for all of God’s Creation to the ministry at Holy Trinity. The daughter of educators, she is always excited to have a conversation on how God’s presence in prayer and Scripture informs and transforms our lives. Mother Lisa grew up in Westminster, MD, and served in various lay ministries at her home parish before receiving a call to ordination. She attended Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Virginia, and graduated with a Masters in Divinity with a concentration in New Mission Practices in 2018. She loves animals (especially her cat companion, Même), gardening, crochet, hiking, travel, and reading. She also holds a B.S. in Animal Sciences from University of Maryland, College Park. Mother Lisa can be reached via email at: [email protected]
We wish Mother Lisa the best of luck in her new position. We’re looking forward to working with her and seeing the church grow under her guidance.
We are a community called together by the spirit of God to worship, pray, give and work in the name and for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Our Life together begins in our common worship. We gather at God’s Table, sharing our individual lives and bound together in our common faith. We invite you to join in the life and work of this congregation.
Whether you are a visitor passing us momentarily or are considering joining this church, we welcome you. Our spirit, our worship and our lives are enriched by your presence.
WE ARE OPEN!
Our foremost concern is for everyone’s health and safety, however given the improvements regarding COVID in the past few months, we have decided it is safe to reopen. We are following the diocesan guidelines for regathering which can be found at https://episcopalmaryland.org/covid-19-response/#regather.
Welcome back everyone!
If for whatever reason you feel unsure about regathering, we are still providing Facebook and YouTube streaming services. While we encourage physical attendance, we understand that isn’t always possible. Now that we have returned to physical services, YouTube and Facebook posts might become less frequent.
Information about the Diocese’s response and opportunities for streaming worship can be found at the website for the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland: https://episcopalmaryland.org/
